The Redmi 5 features a 5.7-inch HD+ (720×1440 pixels) display with 282ppi pixel density, 72 percent NTSC colour gamut, 450nits brightness, 18:9 aspect ratio, and eye protection mode. It is a dual-SIM smartphone and runs on Android Nougat OS with MIUI 9 skin on top. Under the hood, there lies a 1.8GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 octa-core processor paired with Adreno 506 GPU, 2GB/3GB/4GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB/64GB of internal storage.

For photography, there is a 12MP primary rear camera with f/2.2 aperture, 1.25-micron pixels, HDR, PDAF, and LED flash. Up front, there is a 5MP selfie snapper with LED flash, Smart Beauty 3.0 app, and face recognition. The connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, GPS/A-GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack. A 3300mAh battery completes the package.
