Panasonic Lumix GH5S Mirrorless Camera Announced in India

Panasonic has launched the Lumix GH5S, an upgraded version of the Lumix G5 mirrorless camera in India. The camera was originally displayed at the CES 2018. The Panasonic Lumix GH5S is designed keeping professional photographers and filmmakers in mind. Also, the camera has launched in India with a price tag of Rs. 1, 84,990.

To offer improved low light video performance, the camera focuses on higher ISO sensitivity than the resolution. Panasonic has halved the image sensor resolution from 20.3-megapixel to 10.2-megapixel dual ISO sensor and offers better low-light performance. This camera could also fit into the category of the best DSLR cameras for beginners.

The body of the new Panasonic Lumix GH5S is designed for professionals to shoot for a long time without the camera getting overheated. The latest Panasonic camera can record 10-bit 4:2:2 video at Cinema 4K resolution (2160 x 4096 pixels) 60fps and can go up to 51,200 ISO native and 204,800 extended ISO. In the HDR mode, the camera can support HDR Hybrid Log Gamma, V-Log L Gamma and Long GOP.

In an announcement, Panasonic said that “The Lumix GH5S mirrorless camera achieves highest-ever image sensitivity and video image quality in the history of Lumix cameras, particularly in low-light situations. “The Dual Native ISO Technology with high range (2,500) and low range (400) can restrain the noise to create cleaner footage when taken in all light.”

This means that videographers can continue capturing the perfect shot without having to worry about noise which is a result of using higher ISOs. The Panasonic Lumix GH5S Mirrorless camera can also output date using the HDMI 2.1 port, which makes it easier to have a look at the footage captured on set.

Additionally, for capturing still photographs, the Lumix GH5S can capture 14-bit RAW photos, with 0.7-second focus speeds, 225 focus points and 12fps burst shooting and 8fps with continuous autofocus. The other options for focusing include pinpoint AF, tracking AF, 1-area AF and face-eye recognition.

On the connectivity end, the camera has options like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, dual UHS-II SD memory card slots and USB 3.1 Type-C port. Furthermore, the Lumix GH5S camera is dustproof, splashproof and freezeproof (up to -10 degree Celsius).
