The Redmi Note 5 features a 5.99-inch full HD+ (1080×2160 pixels) display with 2.5D curved glass. The phone runs on MIUI 9 skin which is based on Android Nougat OS. Under the hood, there is a 2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC paired with 3GB or 4GB of RAM. There is an Adreno 506 GPU which handles graphics on the device. The fingerprint scanner is offered on the rear panel.

On the camera front, there is a 12MP primary rear camera with a 1.25-micron pixel size, f/2.2 aperture, LED flash, PDAF and EIS. Also, there is a 5MP selfie snapper which comes with LED selfie-light. For storage, the device has 32GB and 64GB options to choose from. A 4000mAh battery completes the package.

The key features of the device are the selfie-light module, bigger 18:9 display, and larger 4000mAh battery. Moreover, a Face Unlock feature is said to be offered on the device via OTA update.
