Nokia 8 with near Bezel-less Display Spotted Online Ahead of Launch

A new Nokia Android mobile has appeared on the Chinese e-tail website which is up for pre-registration. The Nokia 8 is now available in China on JD.com website with a price of CNY 3,188 (roughly Rs 31,150). However, the authenticity of the online listing is doubtful as Nokia hasn’t confirmed the launch details of the alleged smartphone.

The HMD Global has scheduled an event on Sunday where the company is expected to introduce new devices and the e-commerce listing hints Nokia 8 could be announced during the event. The online listing also included concept renders of the Nokia mobile which reveals that the device will boast a near bezel-less display.

Coming to the specifications, the rumoured Nokia 8 smartphone is believed to be equipped with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 processor. However, the Snapdragon 835 has been hoarded by Samsung for its Galaxy S8 device; the integration of this chipset in Nokia 8 is doubtful if the company wish to launch the smartphone at the MWC. HMD Global might offer Snapdragon 821 SoC in the Nokia 8 instead.

The Nokia 8 will feature a 5.7-inch QHD (1440×2560 pixels) Super AMOLED display. The device will flaunt a regular smartphone design with narrow side bezels and slim outline. No information about how much RAM the device will offer is received as of now. Though, the handset is expected to come in two variants based on its storage- 64GB and 128GB. Furthermore, the devices will allow storage expansion via microSD card up to 256GB.

The Nokia 8 smartphone could offer a 24MP primary rear camera with super Electronic Image Stabilization and Optical Image Stabilization features. The camera information of previous rumours is in line with the JD listing image which reveals a large circular module at the rear. Up front, the device will offer a 12MP selfie snapper. The Nokia 8 smartphone is expected to run on Android 7.0 Nougat OS.

Currently, it is not certain whether HMD Global will launch the Nokia 8 smartphone at the MWC 2017 event. However, the company is rumoured to announce the other Nokia-branded smartphone at the event. The list includes the Nokia 5, Nokia 3, and a refreshed version of Nokia 3310 feature phone. The company has already released the Nokia 6 smartphone in China and is expected to address the global availability of the device at the event.
