All About LG V20 – The First Android 7.0 Nougat Smartphone

LG Electronics is set to launch LG V20, ‘World’s first device having Android 7.0 Nougat‘ in September.  LG V20 is the successor of previously launched LG V10. This phone is built upon the premium & high-end feel of the LG V10 smartphone and is said to have the Vulkan API for its graphics.

“We are very excited to present the first smartphone in the World that runs on Android 7.0 Nougat.”, said Mr. Juno Cho, the President of LG Electronics & Mobile Communication Company.

The collaboration of LG and Google is not a new thing. LG had collaborated with Google back in 2009 and presented the very first device based on an Android 1.5 Cupcake version. The two companies have continued their collaboration in smartphone series of Nexus. They have teamed up together and offered the world’s first Android smart wearable device, LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition which is the Android Wear Smartwatch. Keeping the above in mind, the combination of LG V20 with Android Nougat definitely seems to be the perfect one. Let’s see what’s good in Android 7.0 Nougat…

What’s New in Android 7.0 Nougat?

After all these suggestions and guessing, the official name for Android 7.0 was finally confirmed by Google as Android Nougat and not Android Nutella. The new Android 7.0 introduces notable changes to the operating system and its development platform. As per Wikipedia, some of the changes include the ability to display multiple apps on-screen at once in a split-screen view. The split-screen display mode allows users to snap two apps to fill the halves of the screen. There is also a support for inline replies to notifications. One can find an OpenJDK-based Java environment and support for the Vulkan graphics rendering API. In addition, you can get “seamless” system updates on supported devices. Also, the notification shade was redesigned and featured using smaller row of icons for settings.

Summing Up

LG says it will release the V20 next month which means that we will probably see much more in the way of leaks very shortly. Keep checking in.

As per the buzz, LG might consider the V20 to be its 2016 flagship phone. If the rumors are to be trusted the phone will have big rivals like the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge and the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. However, if the launches take place in September LG V20 will have to compete against the Apple iPhone 7 and Apple iPhone 7 Plus.
