Xiaomi India has recently announced an initiative to recycle the old and unused goods. The company calls it as the ‘Mi India End of Life Product Takeback and Recycling Program’. The program is said to follow the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2016 to recycle the electronic products. The interested people can use the program to donate their mobiles, headphones, power banks, speakers, and other electronic items. Xiaomi is offering a discount of Rs 100 to the customers donating their electronic products to the company for recycling.
Xiaomi will accept the products which are no longer in use and reached to the end of its life. The company says that the program will not provide any promise on the support for faulty or damaged products in terms of exchange or repair. The interested users need to have a Mi Account to take part in this program.
Using the Mi Account, the users are requested on the website to fill out the e-waste recycling form and after the form fill up, the company will carry out the further procedure to pick up the e-waste using an authorised e-waste recycler within a period of 15 days since the time of the request.

Xiaomi will provide a discount coupon of worth Rs 100 to the users availing the recycling program for every pickup request. The discount coupon offer is only applicable for mobiles deposited and no other electronic product is applicable for this offer. The phone deposited should contain all its parts and the company will not accept any spare parts of the phone.
Discounts by Xiaomi
The discount coupon will be offered to the users to their Mi Account once the pickup is successful. However, it is worth mentioning that the company will not make an immediate transfer of coupon. Instead, it will add the discount coupon after 14 days of the pickup date.
The e-waste management solution to Xiaomi for this program is offered by TES-AMM. In addition, the users can also drop the e-waste products to their nearest Xiaomi servicing centres. The company will accept the electronic goods of any brand or company which was sold in India. The company has advised the users that all the personal data on the device should be erased before depositing them.
The users can avail the discount using the coupon on the purchase of accessories which are priced at Rs 1000 and above. That means the users won’t be able to use the discount coupons on the purchase of smartphones.
