Last week, the Chinese company, Gionee started sending press invites for an event on August 22 in India. It was expected to reveal a new selfie-focused smartphone there. However, the company has confirmed the launch of Gionee S6s at the event in the tweet.
Redefining the “Premium Selfie” Definition
Gionee seems gearing to target the selfie obsessed audience with its new S6s smartphone in India. The company also shared an image of the S6s smartphone on Twitter that gave the first sneal peek of the smartphone to ahead of the official reveal to the world.
The USP of Gionee S6s
As per company the new handset is likely to sport an all metal body with a fingerprint scanner mounted at the rear.
The highlight of the smartphone is the flash feature that accompanies the front camera carrying on the selfie-focused theme.
Features and Specification (Rumored)
If the reports are to be trusted, the S6s is expected to share the same design and specifications with the S6 Pro. S6 Pro supports a mid-range MediaTek Helio P10 chipset, 4 GB of RAM, and 64 GB of expandable storage. As far as the cameras are concerned, the S6 Pro sports a 13 MP camera on the rear and an 8 MP front-facing camera. The phone is powered by a 3,130 mAh battery. Not much is known about the S6s, except the above mentioned feature – a front facing LED flash, as suggested by the invite for the launch event. Ahead of the August 22 launch, we can expect the company to release more teasers around the handset.

Gionee M6 and M6 Plus
Last month Gionee launched the M6 and M6 Plus smartphones.
The biggest highlight of the smartphones was the inbuilt data encryption chip that ensures extra security of user’s communication and content.
The expected price of Gionee M6 Plus is around 32,990 for its 128GB storage variant whereas the Gionee M6 128GB variant is expected to be priced at Rs. 29,990.
