Apple Reportedly Ordered 70 Million OLED Panels for iPhone 8

Apple has been rumoured to offer bendable OLED screens in its upcoming iPhone 8 smartphone. Now, a new development is stating that the company has ordered as many as 70 million units of the bendable OLED screens from Samsung which is one of the major smartphone display manufacturers. If the report is to be believed, the company will mass produce the Apple iPhone 8.

According to a report by Nikkie, Apple has placed the order of 70 million organic light-emitting diodes (OLED) with Samsung Electronics this year. In addition, Samsung will be the sole supplier of OLED panels this year. David Hsieh who is the Senior Director at IHS Markit has previously hinted about the supply numbers of the OLED panels which are in line with the latest report. The increased number of supply is said to be ordered in advance to ensure no shortage of supply during launch will occur, Heish told Nikkie.

An earlier report mentioned that the iPhone 8 might come in limited quantities when it will be launched in September this year. Moreover, the full-fledged availability of the smartphone was said to be delayed until the Q4 blaming the unavailability of adequate OLED supply.
