Xiaomi Mi Max 2 To Be Launched on May 25 in China

Xiaomi is all set to launch the Mi Max 2 a rightful successor to last year’s Xiaomi Mi Max, which was very well received by the users. Xiaomi claimed it shipped 1.5 million units of the Mi Max within two months of its launch in China. Now, the company is expected to launch the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 on 25th of May in China. A teaser site has been already put up on the company’s website and the Mi Max 2 is being promoted via a game on the website.

We have already seen a host of leaks, so we have a good idea as to what the phone will look like and what kind of hardware would power the device. Similar to last year’s Mi Max the focus this year too would be in a lot of media like videos, music etc. Hence, the Xiaomi Mi max 2 will focus on having a huge battery, a good display which is also big in size and good audio.

Xiaomi Mi Max 2: Specifications

The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 will have an all-metal encasing and will look somewhat similar to last year’s Mi Max with small refinements in the design. The phone will have a 6.4-inch Full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display up front and will be powered by the new Snapdragon 626 but the last generation Mi Max came with a Snapdragon 652 so I assume the Mi Max 2 to have the Snapdragon 660 instead of the 626 but we will have to see when the phone officially launches.

The phone will come with 2 RAM variants, one with 4 GB of RAM and another advanced variant with 6 GB of RAM unlike last year’s Mi max which came with 3 or 4 GB of RAM, the Mi Max 2 will also have 128 GB of internal storage.

For the shutterbugs, the primary rear camera will sport a 12-MegaPixel shooter with dual LED flash. The front will have a 5-MegaPixel shooter for selfies and video calling which is nothing spectacular. The battery has been upgraded from 4,850mAh in the Mi Max to 5,000mAh on the Mi Max 2, which should be more than enough to last a full day of extremely heavy usage. The phone will have a USB type C port for charging the device and could possibly have bottom firing dual speakers for clear audio.

Price

We have no confirmation yet, about when Xiaomi will launch the Mi Max 2 in India, but if we had to guess it would be somewhere in July. The phone will be priced at RMB 1,499 (roughly Rs 14,000) and RMB 1,699 (roughly Rs 15,900) respectively for the 4 and 6 GB RAM variants which roughly translates to about US$ 230 and US$ 260 respectively.

Apart from the Xiaomi Mi Max 2, Xiaomi also launched a USB Type C earphone, which has been designed by Luca Bignardi, An award winning musician and sound engineer of Spanish origin. Xiaomi ditched the 3.5 mm jack on their new flagship the Mi 6 and hence bundled these new earphones with the phone.
