Xiaomi Redmi 4 is Likely To Launch in India Today

Xiaomi is about to release its next smartphone in the Redmi lineup in India on May 16, 2017. The company has scheduled an event at 11:30 am IST in New Delhi, which might be the official launch event of its Xiaomi Redmi 4. The newly launched device is likely to be made exclusively on Amazon India.

The event will be streamed live from company’s website. Moreover, the e-commerce giant, Amazon India has started the registrations for the notifications about the upcoming mobile. Several reports are claiming that the company will release its Redmi 4 Prime smartphone alongside the Redmi 4 at the event in India.

To recall, the Xiaomi Redmi 4 and Redmi 4 Prime were introduced last year in November in China along with the Xiaomi Redmi 4A. The Redmi 4A was launched in India in March this year. Coming to the price, the Redmi 4 is priced at CNY 699 (roughly Rs 6,800), whereas the Redmi 4 Prime costs CNY 899 (roughly Rs 8,900) in China.

Features and Specifications

Both the Xiaomi Redmi 4 and Redmi 4 Prime shares an identical metal unibody designs, hybrid dual-SIM slots, 2.5D curved glass on top, and a fingerprint sensor at the back panel. However, there are major differences in terms of specifications such as the processor, memory, display resolution, and internal storage. The device runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS powered by MIUI 8. The handset comes in Gold, Silver, and Grey colour options.

Coming to the specifications, the Xiaomi Redmi 4 features a 5-inch HD (720 x 1280 pixels) display. The handset boasts a 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor paired with Adreno 505 GPU. It comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The device has a 13MP primary rear camera with 5P lens, f/2.2 aperture, PDAF, and dual LED flash. Up front, there is a 5MP selfie shooter with f/2.2 aperture.

On the other hand, the Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime features a 5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display. The device is powered by a 2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor. It is coupled with Adreno 506 GPU, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of onboard storage.

The connectivity options on both smartphones include 4G VoLTE, GPS/A-GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. The sensor on board includes gyroscope, infrared, accelerometer, proximity, and ambient light sensor.
