Panasonic Launches the Eluga Ray and P85

Panasonic recently added 2 new phones to their product portfolio in India namely the Panasonic Eluga Ray and the Panasonic P85. Both the phones are Flipkart exclusives and come with Arbo, a built-in AI software which monitors the usage pattern and offers recommendations based on it. The Arbo AI can help you with daily activities like setting an alarm and wake you up at the usual time or book a cab to make life simpler.

As far as the specifications are concerned, the Eluga Ray comes with a 5-inch HD (720p) display with IPS technology. Under the hood, there is a Quad-Core Mediatek chipset clocked at 1.3GHz. It has 3GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 64GB.

For the shutterbugs, the Eluga Ray sports a 13MP rear camera along with a 5MP front camera with LED flash. A 4000 mAh battery powers the device enough to last through a full day of heavy usage . The connectivity options on the device include 4G with VoLTE support, USB OTG, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS. are present. There is a fingerprint sensor present on the phone.

The phone runs on Android 6.0 marshmallow and the possibility of it getting updated is slim. The Sensors present in the Smartphone are Accelerometer, Proximity Sensor, Fingerprint Sensor, Compass/Magnetometer, and Hall Sensor.

The Eluga Ray is priced at Rs. 7,999 and at the price it competes against phones like the Xiaomi Redmi 3s Prime and the recently launch Xiaomi Redmi 4 both of which have better hardware but the inclusion of Arbo the Smart virtual assistant is the USP of the Eluga ray.

Features and Specifications

The Panasonic P85, on the other hand, sports a 5 inch HD (720p) Display with a 1GHz Quad-Core chipset powering it from inside along with 2GB of RAM. 16GB of internal storage can be expanded via the help of a microSD card.

The P85 comes equipped with an 8MP rear camera with LED flash for the shutterbugs and a 2MP front camera. A huge 4000mAh battery powers the device which should easily last for 2 days on a single charge. Standard connectivity options are 4G with VoLTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. The P85 too runs Android 6.0 marshmallow and the possibility of the future software upgrade is almost none.

The P85 is priced at Rs. 6,999 and competes against the likes of Coolpad Note 5 Lite and Xiaomi Redmi 4A, the USP here again is the inclusion of Arbo the smart virtual assistant.

Both the smartphones are quite mediocre and have pretty low powered hardware inside them. With huge competition in the market, it will be difficult for the Eluga ray and P85 to make a mark. However, everything hinges on Arbo their Smart AI which could draw in the consumers to their phones.
