The most-awaited OnePlus 5 is finally here. The latest OnePlus flagship smartphone is launched on June 20 and it will enter the Indian market by June 22. It will be available at a price of $479 globally which approximately indicates Rs 30,000 on conversion for the 6GB RAM variant.
Now, we are in a position to compare the OnePlus 5 with last year’s OnePlus 3T. Both smartphones have some major differences. Hence, we have made a detailed comparison of the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 3T.
Both the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 3T sports nearly same size and has a 5.5-inch display. However, OnePlus 5 is slightly slimmer and lighter than its predecessor. It is offered in Midnight Black and the new Slate Gray colour option. Both devices look identical from the front view.
At the rear of OnePlus 5, there is dual camera module on OnePlus 5 which is the most notable difference in between these two handsets. To recall, the OnePlus 3T has a single camera on the rear panel. Moreover, OnePlus 5 has rounded edges which are distinguishable from the sharp edges of OnePlus 3T.

Hardware and Software
The biggest improvement in the new OnePlus 5 lies under the hood. The latest smartphone is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, whereas the predecessor boasts a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821. The latest chipset is manufactured on the 10nm process, while the Snapdragon 821 is based on 14nm process.
The performance of the Snapdragon 835 SoC is considerably superior to the earlier one. Another change is in the memory capacity. The OnePlus 3T was offered with 6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB internal storage. On the other hand, the OnePlus 5 comes in two variants- 6GB RAM + 64GB internal storage and 8GB RAM + 128GB of internal storage. Both smartphones run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat with Oxygen OS running on top.
While OnePlus 3T features a 16MP primary rear camera, the OnePlus 5 offers a dual camera setup on the rear panel. The camera module on OnePlus 5 includes a 16MP primary sensor paired with a 20MP secondary telephoto sensor. The camera is competent to take bokeh effect in portrait mode and support lossless zoom up to the 2X range.
Surprisingly, the OnePlus 5 offers a slightly smaller 3300mAh battery when compared with a 3400mAh battery of OnePlus 3T. Although, the battery life is likely to be improved on OnePlus 5 as it sports the latest Snapdragon 835 SoC which is certainly more optimised for energy efficiency. Both devices support Dash Charge technology and come with similar charger specification.
