Nokia D1C – Smartphone or Tablet?

Nokia is all set for a comeback and this time Android and Nokia will go hand in hand. The next Nokia mobile will run on latest Android OS, a sight of relief, isn’t it? Previously, Nokia gave the clue that its next device will sport Android and since then, many rumors were surfaced on the internet regarding the next Nokia device’s names and features.

Earlier this month, a puzzling device named Nokia D1C was 1st spotted on Geekbench. According to Geekbench, the Nokia D1C could feature 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Octa-core Processor with 3GB RAM and Android 7 Nougat as OS. This device was assumed to have a 5.2 or 5.5 inches display which proved that it will be a mid-budget smartphone.

A few days later,  Nokia D1C was again spotted AnTuTu Benchmark followed by Geekbench which enlightened some detailed specifications of the Nokia D1C. According to AnTutu, Nokia D1C will be powered by Qualcomm 430 Processor paired with Adreno 505 GPU and it will run on Android 7.0. This device showed a 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution which is commonly possessed by a mid-range smartphone. In terms of camera, Nokia D1C is supposed to enclose a 13MP rear and an 8MP selfie camera. It will mark a good 3GB RAM and internal memory of 32GB. Thus, considering the specifications spotted on AnTuTu, Nokia D1C was supposed to be a Smartphone with a reasonable price tag.

Alongside the Nokia D1C, another android-powered smartphone, Nokia C1 has also surfaced on the internet. Nokia C1 is supposed to be a 5.5 inches smartphone powered by Qualcomm MSM8976 Snapdragon 652 Octa cores processor. It will possess 2GB RAM with 32GB ROM and it will be running on Android v6.0 (Marshmallow). However, the status of this smartphone remains rumored.

Later on, GFXBench, a benchmarking website, revealed that Nokia D1C will be featuring 13.8 inches display that makes it a Tablet. It was a sudden blow since Nokia D1C was assumed to be a smartphone. But we couldn’t deny this fact as Nokia had confirmed that they are working on Android smartphones as well as tablets too. GFXBench also showcased specifications which were contradictory to earlier benchmarking websites. GFXBench claimed that Nokia D1C will feature 15MP rear and 7MP front camera which again was ambiguous.

Recently, a website called Nokiapoweruser state that Nokia D1C is not a tablet but it will be a 4.8 inches smartphone. Also, this website claimed that 13.8 inches mentioned in GFXBench was due to the incorrect scaling factor.  Thus, the coin has flipped again leaving us dazed and confused whether Nokia’s next Android device is a smartphone or a Tablet.

Moreover, Nokia hasn’t put a word on its upcoming devices; the alleged rumors could be just wild guesses with a pinch of salt. Meanwhile, let us know what your instinct says? Whether it’ll be a Tablet or Smartphone?
