Misfit Vapor Touchscreen Smartwatch Unveiled at CES 2017

The American OEM, Misfit which is owned by Fossil has unveiled its first touchscreen smartwatch at the ongoing CES 2017. The company is known for activity trackers and smart home appliances and it’s now entering into the category of smartwatches with its Misfit Vapor smartwatch.

While the other tech giants are removing their hands from this category because of the disappointing sales results, Misfit appears to take a contrarian approach. While looking at the Misfit Vapor, it doesn’t offer anything new in terms of design and features and it has a round dial with metallic edges.

The company has not revealed the operating system of the Vapor smartwatch but it is expected to come with a forked version of Android. The Misfit Vapor features a 1.4-inch AMOLED touchscreen display. It is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor with 4GB of onboard storage. Misfit Vapor has a unique feature with the UI called as touch bezel, which is a touchwheel that allow the user to interact and control the elements on the watch.

The sensor on the smartwatch includes an accelerometer, gyroscope, heart rate sensor, and altimeter. The device is waterproof and offers interchangeable straps. The company claims that the smartwatch can last two days on a single charge. The Misfit Vapor smartwatch is expected to ship in later in the year and it will be priced at $199 (roughly Rs 13,500).

Misfit has a set of wearable devices since 2012. Most of the Misfit devices are sleek, inexpensive activity trackers. Fossil acquired the Misfit last year and since then, the company has made a few watches like the Phase wristwatch. The Misfit Vapor will be the first touchscreen smartwatch as the company had made analog-style watches earlier. The Vapor smartwatch will compete with tech giants like Apple smartwatch and Fitbit smartwatch.
