The LG Electronics has unveiled its LG V20 smartphone at an event in San Francisco. The newly launched V20 is the first phone to come with Android 7.0 Nougat operating system out of the box version. The smartphone will be made available in LG’s home country Korea by the month end and is likely to enter Indian markets soon. Surprisingly, the company hasn’t put a word on pricing of the LG V20 device.
Though the Nougat upgrades are already roll out to Google phones under the Nexus brand, V20 is the first device to come with Nougat pre-installed out of the box. Meanwhile, other smartphones will have to wait for Nougat as individual smartphone vendors and wireless carriers require tweaking and testing the latest software first.
The LG V20 smartphone is built out of AL6013 metal- the metal used to manufacture the aircraft, mountain bikes, and sailboats. The company is claiming that the smartphone can easily survive the drops from a height up to four feet.
The device features a 5.7-inch IPS Quantum display and also a secondary display which was earlier seen on the LG V10. While comparing the secondary screen with predecessor V10, the font size of V20 is 50 percent larger and provides an ease to quickly check notifications and alerts.
The LG V20 features yet another first of a kind feature like a 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC, HD Audio Recorder and B&O Play speakers for audiophiles.
The smartphone has dual rear camera setup with 8MP and 16MP camera lenses which support 135-degree and 75-degree focal length respectively. The Auto Shot feature in V20 allows you to capture selfies via smile detection. (Check out our list of Selfie Phones in India.)
The LG V20 optics comes with Hybrid Auto Focus (HAF) features. The HAF on device integrates three autofocus mechanisms such as Laser Detection AF, Contrast AF, and the Phase Detection AF. The camera at V20 is capable of recording Hi-Fi videos with background noise control on audio.
On specifications, the LG V20 is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 MSM8996 quad-core processor paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The device is powered by a 3200mAh battery and it has a USB Type-C port for charging. The V20 is offered in Titan, Silver, and Pink color options. The device measures at 159.7×78.1×7.6mm dimensions and weighs 174 grams.
