Google Pixel and Pixel XL Expected To Be Announced on October 4: Report

The search giant, Google is about to unveil its new ‘Pixel’ product lineup which will replace its existing ‘Nexus’ lineup. The company has released its latest Android Nougat version recently and now is headed to launch two new smartphones named as ‘PixelandPixel XL’ which are believed to be launched on October 4, 2016.

The upcoming smartphones Google Pixel and Pixel XL were previously rumored as ‘Sailfish’ and ‘Marlin’ respectively. But as per recent reports, it is believed that the Pixel smartphone will be code named as Sailfish while the Pixel XL will come with Marlin code name. Both the smartphones will likely to feature a quad-core processor with 4GB of RAM and 12MP primary rear camera.

The company is also expected to launch the Google Home, Chromecast with 4K playback capabilities and Daydream VR.

The rumored Sailfish variant is supposed to feature a 5-inch display while the Marlin device will have a larger 5.5-inch display. These devices will be closely based on HTC One A9 design as HTC is rumored to manufacture the upcoming Google Pixel devices.

However, Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai said just three months ago that the company is building its own in-house smartphone devices and further investing in their Nexus division. So, the idea of replacing the Nexus branding with Pixel moniker and having manufacturing partner like HTC which will manufacture Pixel smartphone and release it with a Google branding took the confusions at the peak.

The anticipated smartphones are claimed to be expensive than the current Nexus devices, as per several reports. The 5-inch Sailfish smartphone is expected to be priced at $449 (approximately Rs. 30,000) and the 5.5-inch Marlin smartphone is to be priced at $599 (approximately Rs. 40,100). On the other hand, the official confirmation of price is to be received yet.

Google released its Android 7.0 Nougat version last month and the updates are officially ready for the Nexus 6, Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Nexus 9, Nexus Player and Pixel C devices. While the out-of-box- version of Android Nougat will be first available on LG V20 which is launching in coming days.
