Flipkart has recently tightened its return policy on some of the most popular items. The company expressed that the revised return policy will help the company and its vendors to reduce the operational costs, however, it may bother some of its customers.
Flipkart is one on India’s largest e-commerce marketplace and the move to suspend the refunds on popular products including camera accessories, mobile accessories, smart wearables, office equipment, and game. The website says, “Refunds are not offered. All sales are final.” Fortunately, big-ticket items like large appliances, mobile phones, and furniture are still eligible for refunds with several terms and conditions.
The vendors on Flipkart’s platform have welcomed the move, on the other hand, some experts believes that the revised return policy will impact the traffic. The liberal refunds policy was one of the prime reason why most of the Indian consumers shifted to e-commerce following the discounts and offer been provided by online stores.
Citing the sources, The Economic Times reported the revised refund policy of Flipkart. As per the report, a Flipkart spokesperson told that the company has revised the refund policy though it follows customer-friendly terms. The customers can ask for refunds via self-service option and the customers will not have to wait long for their money back, the person added. The refund options are available on over 1,150 product categories among the total available 1,800 categories.
As per the new return policy, if a customer gets a defected or damaged product, it can be determined within the 10-day period after the delivery. A replacement of the same product and the same model will be provided at no additional cost. The consumers are eligible for refunds only when the replacement product is out of stock or it has been permanently discontinued. The refund for the part(s) of the product or the entire product will be refunded by the seller.
Select categories including clothing, eyewear, fashion accessories, and footwear can be exchanged within 30 days of the delivery.
Most of the e-commerce firms were preferred just because of its full refund and no-questions-asked return policy in India till early last year. Although, such policies results in high logistic expenditures for the online stores and the sellers on their platform.
