Xiaomi Mi 6 Rumoured to Launch on April 16

Xiaomi has recently introduced a new smartphone called as the Xiaomi Mi 5C which features company’s in-house Pinecone Surge S1 processor. The company also unveiled the Redmi 4X in China alongside. Now, Xiaomi is grabbing headlines for another smartphone. The Xiaomi Mi 6 is the eagerly-awaited upcoming mobile from the company which has been surrounded by rumours and leaks for some time. While the company hasn’t put a word about its upcoming flagship smartphone, a new report reveals the launch date of the device.

According to a GizmoChina report, the launch of the Xiaomi Mi 6 is expected to be on April 16, 2017. The report also mentioned that they have received the confirmed news from an undisclosed source.

Xiaomi had launched its Mi 5 smartphone last year with the under-clocked Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset which is outdated at present. Qualcomm’s latest chipset, the Snapdragon 835 is reserved by Samsung for its upcoming flagship Galaxy S8 smartphones. However, Xiaomi Mi 6 is expected to be the first smartphone from China to boast a Snapdragon 835 octa-core SoC. Moreover, the report claimed that this time Xiaomi will not offer an under-clocked Snapdragon 835 chipset.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset clubs Adreno 540 GPU with it. The Xiaomi Mi 6 is likely to offer a 5.2-inch QHD (1440×2560 pixels) IPS display with 2.5D glass on top and a variant with a ceramic body.

The Chinese website report also suggested that the Mi 6 will offer the same camera modules as the Sony Xperia XZ Premium has. The camera will have three sensors with support for ultra-high speed video capture of up to 960 frames per second. The Xiaomi Mi 6 is expected to be offered in variants- a 4GB RAM + 32GB internal storage variant and a 4G RAM + 64GB internal storage.

Xiaomi will also introduce a limited edition ceramic-construction variant which will have 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The Mi 6 will have fingerprint sensor at the front. The other sensors on board will include accelerometer, barometer, and gyroscope.

Coming to the pricing, the Xiaomi Mi 6 is expected to be priced around CNY 1999 (roughly Rs 19,500) for the glass body, whereas the ceramic body variant is expected to cost CNY 2500 (roughly Rs 24,500).
