Razer Unveiled Project Linda That Transforms Smartphone into Laptop

Razor has made launches of a few new products at the ongoing CES 2018 event. The company has rolled out the Project Linda and a new wireless HyperFlux technology during the event. Among these, the Razer Project Linda is a 13.3-inch laptop which is powered by a Razer Phone. It is a hybrid concept which is aimed to combine an Android-based Razer Phone with a laptop.

On the other hand, the HyperFlux is a new wireless technology developed by Razer. HyperFlux technology is said to be ideal to achieve truly wireless mouse operation. The mouse using HyperFlux can get its power right from the mouse pad. It is a combo of a mouse and a compatible mouse pad.

Like mentioned above, the Project Linda involves the use of a Razer Phone which gets attached to a laptop slot. The smartphone can be attached at a position where usually a touchpad is placed on a regular laptop. There is a button which transforms the Razer Phone into an Android laptop when connected to Project Linda.

The Linda laptop gets power from the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC and 8GB RAM that is equipped with the smartphone.

“Project Linda combines the best of both worlds, bringing a larger screen and physical keyboard to the Android environment, enhancing the experience for gaming and productivity,” says Min-Liang Tan who is co-founder and CEO at Razer.

The Project Linda laptop boasts a 15mm thin unibody CNC aluminium chassis. The laptop features a 13.3-inch Quad HD touchscreen. The overall weight of the device is less than 1.25kg including the docked smartphone. There is a built-in backlit keyboard offered on the laptop.

After docking on Linda, the Razer Phone can be used as a 5.7-inch touchpad or as a second screen to navigate apps and tools. The keyboard provided on the laptop is powered by Razer Chroma backlighting which allows users to customise the colours of backlighting.

There is a 200GB internal storage offered on the Project Linda. Furthermore, it has a 53.6Whr internal battery which can even charge the connected phone. On the connectivity front, the Project Linda has a USB Type-A port, USB Type-C charging port, a 3,5mm audio jack, dual array microphone, and a 720p webcam.

Razer is a well-known computer peripheral brand in India. The company has a few popular best gaming mouse and gaming keyboard in the Indian market. It will be interesting to see when and how the company will launch its Project Linda laptop in India.
