HTC U Play review
22nd February, 2017

The overall design of the handset is one of the HTC U Play’s key appeals. Like the Samsung S7 family, it’s made of metal and glass but has a smoother, more rounded shape. HTC calls it “liquid surface” design. So the HTC U Play looks great and feels great, too, in keeping with the price. It also has a decent 32GB storage, a microSD slot and includes an excellent fingerprint scanner under the screen. If the trend for 2017 phones is to follow this same route then we may see a huge influx of USB Type-C headphones soon, but the HTC U series alone won’t speed this up.

The HTC U-Play has a serious number of megapixels to its name: there’s a 16-megapixel camera on the front and a 16-megapixel camera on the back. The HTC U-Play has a 2,500mAh battery, which is fairly small for a phone with a 1080p screen and a 28nm processor rather than a more up-to-date 14nm one. The lower the nanometer count, the more efficient a CPU tends to be.It looks and feels great, but mid-range insides and a few stand-out problems make the HTC U Play a tough sell at the price

  • Good screen
  • Attractive, well-made hardware
  • Sharp Display
  • Limited battery life
  • Laggy camera and performance overall
  • No headphone jack

HTC U-Play, the smartphone features a 5.2-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) Super LCD display with Gorilla Glass protection. The company has launched the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage model in India. Furthermore, the device boasts a MediaTek Helio P10 octa-core processor. For photography, it offers a 16MP primary rear camera with BSI sensor, f/2.0 aperture, dual-tone LED flash, PDAF, and optical image stabilization. It has a 16MP selfie shooter with UltraPixel mode to ensure clear and detailed selfies. The HTC U Play features a similar set of connectivity options and has a fingerprint sensor on the home button. The device gets power from a 2500mAh battery with fast charging support.
