On the other hand, the Moto Z Play weighs 165 grams and has 6.9mm thickness.

Hardware

The Moto Z2 Play is powered by an advanced 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 processor paired with 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, and option to expand storage via microSD card slot. In addition, the latest Moto Z2 Play comes pre-installed with Android 7.0 Nougat OS out-of-the-box, whereas the predecessor ran on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The Moto Z2 Play arrives with a slight downgrade in terms of battery capacity. The Moto Z Play boasts a 3510mAh battery, whereas the latest mobile comes with a 3000mAh battery. The reduced battery capacity is certainly a frustration in the case of Moto Z2 Play.

Camera

The biggest change in Moto Z2 Play is its 12MP primary rear camera. The Moto Z Play featured a 16MP rear camera which is slightly better on paper. However, the megapixel count is not that important when it comes to photography. What matters is the camera sensor size, camera output, and others.

The company has offered a 1.4-micron sensor which is ideal for dual autofocus and f/1.7 aperture for Moto Z2 Play. Up front, there is a 5MP selfie snapper with f/2.2 aperture, dual-tone LED flash and wide-lens. The lesser f-stop count on the device will ensure brighter images in low light conditions as more light will enter its lens.
