‘Smartron’ is an Indian company founded by Mahesh Lingareddy, Rohit Rathi and Narsi Posham. The firm stepped in the Indian market with the launch of the Smartron t.book laptop-tablet hybrid in 2016. After the success of t.book – the Bangalore based company is out with the Smartphone – the t.phone. The product has come with a huge backing from the ‘God of Cricket’ Sachin Tendulkar himself.

The new entrant in the smartphone space, Smartron’s t.phone was launched at an event in Hyderabad on 19 May. Priced at Rs 22,999, the t.phone will come with Smartron’s tron.x platform bundled in.

Design, Specification and Features:

The t.phone features metal unibody design. The camera modules are placed at the left hand top corner, which is very similar to designs seen on Vivo Smartphones.

Smartron t.phone boasts an incredibly Bold Dual-tone scheme. It runs Android Marshmallow and comes with top of the line specs like 1.6GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC processor, 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. Its has a 5.5 inch SUPER AMOLED rich display with Apical Assertive technology. t.phone comes with the company’s own cloud offering with unlimited free storage space. As far as the camera is concerned, the Superphone flaunts 13MP rear camera with phase detection autofocus and supports 4K video recording. It supports and a 4-megapixel front shooter for selfies. The mobile is 6.98mm thick and the lightest phone in its category that weighs just 149 grams. The dual SIM (GSM and GSM) Smartphone also has a decent 3000mAh battery with USB Type-C port and Quick Charge support.

Conclusion:

The Smartron t.phone has entered the giant market of flagship mobile phones under Rs 25,000. The phone indeed is the power pack of lot many features, however the fact that it is using a generation old Snapdragon 810 chipset may be a disadvantage. Its competitors like Xiaomi Mi5 have already moved on to Snapdragon 820. Another feature that we expect maybe a fingerprint sensor – which has become de rigueur for smartphones these days.
