The Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus is believed to release a new flagship smartphone called as the OnePlus 5 this year. The OnePlus is rumoured to ditch the OnePlus 4 naming after OnePlus 3T as the number ‘4’ is considered unlucky in China.

Furthermore, a recent report from South Korea stated that the new OnePlus smartphone will feature a dual-edge curved display similar to the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. The dual-edge display is rumoured to be the key highlight of the upcoming mobile apart from a 16MP front-facing selfie camera. Besides, the other rumours claimed that the OnePlus 5 will offer a 23MP primary rear camera and 6GB or 8GB of RAM.

OnePlus is expected to increase the storage on the next flagship device to 256GB. The other detail suggests that the OnePlus 5 will feature a Ceramic Body similar to the one used in the Xiaomi Mi Mix smartphone. The handset is likely to boast the latest Snapdragon 835 chipset. As the company has unveiled its OnePlus 3T smartphone a few months back, the chances of next flagship are limited in coming months and it is likely to get released in late 2017. The South Korean report was spotted by Tech2.

As these all are just rumours and leaks, it is wise to take the information regarding OnePlus 5 with a pinch of salt. Since the company has not announced anything about the new flagship smartphone, the credibility of the sources is doubtful.

OnePlus has rolled out the OxygenOS 4.0.3 update earlier this month for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T smartphones. The new OS update has brought several improvements to the platform. The OxygenOS 4.0.3 update is based on Android 7.0 Nougat OS which offers optimised Smart Wi-Fi Switcher which allow users to automatically switch between Wi-Fi and data connection when the Wi-Fi signals are consistently poor. Also, there are improvements in camera app which add stability and optimisation for exposure which eases the image capturing at night time.

The OnePlus 5 is expected to compete with flagship devices like the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8, recently launched LG G6, and Huawei P10 to name a few.
