While there are rumors claiming that the Microsoft Surface Phone 2016 will release sometime in 2017, a new report suggests that the upcoming device will release before the end of 2016 most probably in October this year. As per the rumors, the Surface Phone 2016 will feature a 5.5-inch or 6-inch display with Snapdragon 830 processor and 4GB of RAM.

After the failure of Microsoft Lumia series, the company has performed a great amount of research to manufacturing a new smartphone that meets the user’s expectations.

Microsoft Surface Phone 2016 Specifications

The speculated specifications of the smartphone said to be featured with three RAM variants keeping 4GB as an entry-level device. More on this, you can expect higher variants with 6GB and 8GB of RAM. For read only memory, the device will have 128GB storage for its 4GB RAM variant while the 6GB RAM variant will sport 256GB storage and 8GB RAM variant will boast 512GB of default storage.

All three variants will be equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 830 processor. There are also rumors about Intel Kaby Lake processor in Surface Phone. But there’s no clarity on this as of now. The same goes with the screen size. Some reports are claiming that Surface Phone will have a 5.5-inch screen while some are stating a 5.7-inch screen with a 2K display that comes with landscape screen support. The device will sport an aluminum and magnesium casing.

The Surface Phone 2016 is likely to have a 20MP Carl Zeiss primary rear camera with Surface Pen functionality. Sensors on board will include a fingerprint sensor, gyro, accelerometer, proximity, compass and a barometer. The phone is also expected to support Continuum which supports the connection of the phone with larger display devices.

Based on latest reports, the Surface Phone will be released in an event held by Microsoft this October. The upcoming smartphone is considered as the most powerful device from the company yet. The phone will compete with newly launched Samsung Galaxy Note 7 and Apple iPhone 7 which is going to release in September.
