Microsoft Surface Book 2 Launched with 8-Gen Intel Core Processors

Microsoft has recently launched the new generation of its Surface Book laptops. The newly launched Microsoft Surface Book 2 is offered in two size options- a 13.5-inch display and a 15-inch display laptop. The new laptops will be made available for pre-orders on November 9.

As mentioned above, the Microsoft Surface Book 2 comes in two models and priced at $1,500 (roughly Rs 97,500) and $2,500 (roughly Rs 162,500) respectively. The latest Microsoft laptop is presently launched in the US market. Though, the details about the global availability of the laptop are scarce at the moment.

Microsoft Surface Book 2 Launched with 8-Gen Intel Core Processors

To recall, the Surface Book 2 is the successor to Microsoft Surface Book laptop that was launched two years back. The laptop also doubles as a tablet. It packs the latest 8-th Generation Intel Core i7 processors (also, there are variants with 7-th Gen Core i5 processors). Looking at the specifications, the Surface Book 2 appears to be the most powerful Surface device so far. The company also made the Windows 10 Fall Creators update public alongside the launch.

Coming to the specifications, the Surface Book 2 comes in seven different variants based on screen size and a different processor, RAM specifications. The Surface Book 2 range starts with:

  • 13.5-inch screen, Intel Core i7, 256GB SSD
  • 13.5-inch screen, Intel Core i7, 512GB SSD

The Surface Book 2 with a 13.5-inch screen has PixelSense Display which sports resolution of 3000×2000 pixels with 267ppi pixel density. It maintains an aspect ratio of 3:2. On the other hand, the 15-inch models come with PixelSense Display and feature 3240×2160 pixels resolution with 3:2 aspect ratio. The laptops are claimed to offer 17 hours of battery backup on while having continuous video playback.

Coming to the performance, the laptops offer the latest 8-th Gen Intel Core i7-8650U processors. This is a quad-core processor with maximum clock speed at 4.20GHz using Max Turbo. Alternatively, the laptops with 7-th Gen Intel Core i5 processor are from 7300U series which offers a maximum clock speed of 3.50GHz. Moreover, there are different options for graphics depending on which variant you choose.

The connectivity options include Wi-Fi, 2 x USB 3.0 ports, USB Type-C port, Bluetooth, UHS-II SDXC card reader, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Moreover, there is a 5MP front-facing camera equipped on the laptop which offers 1080p HD videos, whereas the rear camera offers an 8MP sensor with dual 1080p full HD autofocus features.
