The 4K and HDR were the mainstream technologies we witnessed in the top TVs of 2017. However, the ambitious innovators at LG Display have seemed to be not satisfied yet. LG Display is pushing the OLED technology further with its upcoming 8K TV. The Korean OEM is reportedly planning to showcase the world’s first 88-inch 8K OLED TV at CES 2018 trade show.

In case you haven’t heard about CES, the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is the global stage for innovation. It is a trade show held every year in early January to showcase the latest and the greatest innovations. Much like the past CES events, the companies like LG and Samsung will bring their next-gen TVs to show off their innovations and set a trend. However, this year LG Televisions seems to be a showstopper thanks to its 88-inch 8K OLED TV.

The LG 8K OLED TV will certainly grab the eyeballs of the tech enthusiasts during the CES event. At the same time, it will compete with manufacturers likes of Samsung, Panasonic, and Sony among others. At the moment, there is no further information about the specifications of the upcoming LG 8K OLED TV has received. So, we will learn more about it only once it goes official at CES 2018.

Presently, the largest OLED screen available in the market is a 77-inch TV which offers the 4K resolution. Big brands like Panasonic, LG, and Sony have their line-up of 77-inch 4K OLED TVs. While this was making a trend, Samsung came up with its QLED panels last year.

Meanwhile, Samsung is still dominating the mobile OLED market where LG struggles. The most notable flak about the LG mobile displays was regard to the Google Pixel 2 XL handset.
