Google Nexus – Brand Collaborations & Timeline

Nexus is a range of devices from Google however; Google is not the manufacturer for any Nexus device. For every Nexus device, Google preferred a different high-class manufacturer that would give Nexus devices the best modernism of that era. Nexus range includes Smartphones, Tablets and Digital Media Players. All these devices have bought an uprising in there respected device industries. Let’s see how Google Nexus made a way to hearts of many.

In 2009, the smartphone market was flooded with the news that Google will be launching its own smartphone which would run on Android platform. The idea that Google phones will be on sale soon created an environment of exhilaration and waiting was on.

In January 2010, Google launched its 1st smartphone Nexus One under the brand name HTC. In this way, the Nexus Series was started by Google but the brands under which Nexus devices are manufactured kept changing. Google shook hands with many great smartphone manufacturers to produce the best devices for brand title “Google”. Let’s take a look on the manufacturers behind the grand Nexus range.

HTC-Google

HTC Google Nexus One

HTC was the 1st preference for Google Nexus devices. HTC Google Nexus One was launched in 2010 and it shook the smartphone market by its qualities. Nexus One was the first device to run on new Android 2.1 Eclairs. It was a great hit and now Google was sure that Nexus wouldn’t stop here. Google’s collaboration with HTC was going well but a surprise was to come.

Samsung-Google

Google Nexus S was the 2nd player of Nexus team launched in 2011. However, it was launched under Samsung mobiles. However, there was no particular reason given on why Google turned towards Samsung. Samsung Google Nexus S is a 4 inch smartphone running on 1 GHz single-core ARM Cortex-A8. It had some unique features and at that time it was one of the best android phones. Google stuck to Samsung for its next launch Galaxy Nexus which was again loved by android users. Google Samsung collaboration was working very well but Google had some other plans.

LG-Google

In 2013, Google announced its association with LG for its new LG Nexus 4. Android lovers were surprised to these constant changes of OEMs. But, the good news was, LG was doing very well with its Optimus range and it was ready to handle high-end phones. LG Nexus 4 was not only highly-featured and stylish but also it wasn’t heavy on common man’s pocket. The success of Nexus 4 led to the grant welcome of LG Nexus 5 and till this date Nexus 5 is one of the best smartphones from Google.

This LG Google collaboration also produced LG Nexus 5X in 2015. This 5.2 inch FHD LCD display Smartphone runs on Snapdragon 808 along with 2GB Ram and Adreno 418 GPU.  It comes with 12.3MP rear and 5MP front camera which takes great pictures even in low lights. LG Nexus 5X is the perfect combo of looks and qualities.

However, after Nexus 5 Google again went to another OEM, this concept of different OEMs shows that Google wanted to give the best of it every time.

Motorola-Google

The next launch from Google Nexus was indeed a big transformation as compared to processors. This smartphone truly represented the Google innovations. This innovation was called Nexus 6. Motorola was the manufacturer this time. Motorola succeeded in giving its best outcome in the form of Motorola Nexus 6. This smartphone came in 32GB and 64GB variants. It is powered by a 2.7GHz Snapdragon 805 processor along with 3GB RAM. It has 13MP front and 2 MP front camera and a powerful 3220 mAh battery. It was a style icon from Nexus brand and made very good selling too.

Asus-Google

In 2012, Google Nexus was all set to enter the Tablet market and this new vision led to a new partnership -: Asus-Google. Nexus 7 was the 1st tablet of Google which was manufactured by Asus. But for the next tablet i.e, Nexus 10, Google again went to Samsung and thus Samsung Google Nexus 10 was introduced in late 2012, This 10.1 inch tablet runs on dual-core 1.7 GHz Exynos 5 processor along with 2GB RAM. Google even ruled the tablet market with its best devices and the tablet selling were taken high with partnerships with different OEMs.

Huawei-Google

In 2015, Nexus 6P was announced by Google with again a new partner Huawei. This 5.7 inch WQHD AMOLED display smartphone is an innovation in its own. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 along with 3GB RAM and Adreno 430 GPU for amazing graphics. This smartphone is ruling the market ever since it is announced.


Google Nexus shook hands with many reputed brands and the motto behind every collaboration is to make a device which world has never seen before. Although Google kept changing the manufacturers but it never broke any of the collaborations. Every new device from Google Nexus is a surprise for its audience. For instants, soon Google will be coming with HTC Nexus Pixel and HTC Nexus Pixel XL to make a transformation again.
