Google Chromecast Now Has a Competitor, Amazon Fire TV Stick Launched at Rs. 3,999

Amazon has just launched its Amazon Fire TV Stick in India for a price of Rs 3,999. The newly launched TV Stick is rival to Google Chromecast. With Fire TV stick, the Amazon Prime Video users can easily consume the content on their Television. When a user buys the Amazon Fire TV Stick from Amazon India, you can avail Rs 499 cashback while using Amazon Pay. The device will also be made available via retail stores like Croma and Reliance Digital across the country.

Amazon India has been offering some limited period offers to attract buyers to Fire TV Stick. As per the company, every Amazon Fire TV Stick buyer will be applicable to receive 100GB of free data for Airtel broadband and 4G Wi-Fi connection users for a period of 3 months. You Broadband connection users will also get 240GB of data for the same period on purchase during the launch offer. Moreover, the users will get three-month subscription of Eros Now for free, a month of ad-free streaming on Voot, and six months ad-free streaming on Gaana.

Amazon Fire TV Stick vs Google Chromecast

Google Chromecast was the sole option when it comes to using TV for online streaming. However, Amazon Fire TV Stick has entered in that space. Google Chromecast uses a smartphone to cast the content on TV, whereas the Amazon Fire TV Stick has option to plug the stick directly into TV’s HDMI port and comes with a voice remote control to navigate the interface.

Amazon claimed that the voice search is competent to pick up the names of Hindi titles. The TV Stick doesn’t has Alexa featured in it which is Amazon’s digital assistant which is present in the US variants of the device.

Similar to Google Chromecast, the Amazon Fire TV Stick can serve the online streaming via various sources like Hotstar, YouTube, Netflix, and Amazon Prime Video services. On the other hand, Google Chromecast support all these streaming services except Amazon Prime which is one of the popular streaming services in India. To use Amazon Prime Video content, Google Chromecast doesn’t have any official support unless you use AirPlay on your Apple mobile or other iOS device to cast on an Apple TV.

The Amazon Fire TV Stick come equipped with a quad-core chip inside and has a 1GB RAM with Wi-Fi 802.11ac support. It has internal storage of 8GB in which you can store up to approximately 3000 apps, games and services.
