International Data Corporation (IDC) has reported that in the third quarter of 2016, smartphone vendors have shipped 362.9 million smartphones globally. While, according to Q3 2015 IDC report, smartphone vendors shipped 359.3 million smartphones. This indicates that the worldwide smartphone shipment is grown by 1.0% year-over-year in Q3 2016 regardless of the Samsung galaxy Note 7 recall. Let’s have a look at top 5 smartphone vendors and their market share values.

Samsung Mobiles: Samsung still stands first by shipping 72.5 million units and it holds 20% of the total market share. Despite the mishap of Samsung Galaxy Note 7, Samsung managed to maintain its site all thanks to the success of Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7edge. Apart from S7 and S7 edge, the Galaxy J series was a great helping hand for Samsung to win this race. Thus it seems like, in order to compensate for Galaxy note 7 loses, Samsung should focus more on S7 and S7 edge to maintain the reputation of the brand. Galaxy Note series should be given a red signal for a while.

Apple Mobiles: Q3 shipment of the newly launched iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus was 45.5 million units. However, last year apple did shipment for 48 million units. This shows that Apple has a fall down of 5.3% compared to last year. Apple stands second with 12.5% of total market share. The demand of iPhone 7 plus was much more than its supply which is now believed to be alleviated in Q4 of this year.
