The much-speculated next generation of wireless communication technology is finally unveiled by a 3GPP cellular standards group. The next-gen wireless technology will be called as ‘5G’ and a new logo of 5G has been issued as well. The new 5G logo is originated from the LTE Advance Pro design.

“The idea is to keep a familiar design aspect with the use of plain black text and textured waves, but to make the logo stronger and sharper – ready for use on the new radio and next generation core specifications for 5G,” 3GPP said in a press statement.

Last year at MWC, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg called 5G technology as the ‘faster connections for the rich people’. The next generation of wireless internet technology will impact numerous major industries such as high-tech manufacturing, automotive, public safety, healthcare, gaming, and financial services. The 4G tech was driven largely by video and the 5G will be motivated by the Internet of Things, as per the report.

Facebook is believed to be working on a development of new virtual reality cameras which could be utilized on the 5G network. On the other hand, the search giant, Google plans to bring down the speedy 5G internet via solar-powered planes which are testing out in New Mexico.

The specifications for the 5G wireless technology are still being concluded and it is likely to ready by late 2018. Initially, the first imminent phase will roll out by name- Phase 1, whereas the Phase 2 will conclude in the year of 2020. Having said this, the smartphones with 5G connectivity options will soon acquire the market of 4G LTE connectivity. It might affect the popularity of 4G VoLTE mobiles in India which are at its boom phase, as more and more users will move to the latest 5G technology by 2020.

As mentioned earlier, the definition of 5G is about to receive from the group thus far. However, it is believed that the new technology will aim more on the bandwidth more willingly than 4G’s high speeds. The 5G is said to be more focussing on IoT.

The development of 5G tech will start when Phase 1 releases across the globe. Hopefully, India appears to be in the roadmap of 5G. Numerous telecom companies, chipset manufacturers like Qualcomm, Intel, Samsung, Nokia have already revealed that their upcoming devices will feature the upcoming technology.
